Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Mahatma Gandhi Mission College of Engineering & Technology, Noida. The Department was established in 2000, offers Undergraduate program (B. Tech) Mechanical engineering with an intake of 120.
The department has good infrastructure and is equipped with full-fledged laboratories such as CAD/CAM lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Refrigeration Lab, Engineering Mechanics lab, Thermodynamics Lab, etc.
The department is having well qualified and experienced faculty members. Faculty motivates and guides the students to do projects related to Advanced Technologies in Mechanical Engineering.
Audiovisual classes are conducted as per Time-Table to gain the information regarding latest technologies in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
Emphasis is given on communication skills, creativity, leadership, and innovation to make our students capable of undertaking responsibilities. Our goal is to provide students with a balance of intellectual and practical experiences that enable them to serve a variety of societal needs.
Department has established Students Society of Mechanical Engineering (INNOVENT) for giving scope for the hidden potentials existing amongst the students.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has started in 2008-09 which offers undergraduate course admitting 120 students.

The department has established well equipped laboratories which adequately fulfill the requirements of undergraduate course. These labs are equipped with all the modern mechanical testing, measuring and other instruments..


Manufacturing Science Lab

Shaping Machine, Power Hacksaw Machine, Cylindrical Grinding Machine, Surface Grinding Machine, Bench Grinder, Sheet Bending Press Brake, Fly Press, Injection Moulding Machine, Pipe Bending Machine, Sheet Rolling Machine, Sand Sieve Shaker, etc


Theory of Machines Lab:

Static & Dynamic Balancing Apparatus, Universal Governor Apparatus, Motorized Gyroscope, Epicyclic Gear Train, Whirling Of Shaft Demonstrator, Single Slide & Double Slide crank Mechanism, Clutch Models, Brake Models, etc


Engineering Mechanics Lab:

1 AUTO CAD Mechanical AutoCAD Mechanical software is a mechanical engineering design and documentation solution that supports Building Information Modeling workflows. It is used for designing, drafting and documentation, analysis, defining workflows of mechanical projects.
2 ANSYS ANSYS offers a suite of engineering simulation software for engineers and designers to virtually analyze how their products (and thousands of parts in them) work in real world environment, at an early stage of product design.
ANSYS software is being used across a wide range of industries to analyze various performance parameters such as signal integrity, electromagnetic interference, thermal issues, and mechanical failure.
3 PRO E or CREO Creo, from PTC, is a complete suite of concept design, 2D, 3D, simulation & analysis engineering software. What is unique about Creo is that it has taken into account how product design and development is done in modern days, using diverse tools, with the participation of people of a variety of skills, from different geographical locations. The key promises of Creo tools include: faster time-to-market, product quality, design efficiency; minimum errors, less scrap and rework.
4 Edgecam 2015 R1 Edgecam is a market leading computer aided manufacturing (CAM) system for NC part programming. With unparalleled ease of use and sophisticated toolpath generation, it’s the only CAM system you’ll need for milling, turning and mill-turn machining.
Edgecam utilises your in house knowledge and experience to drive the CAM process with automation tools to suit different applications - allowing you to maintain your competitive edge.

Department is now in the process of procuring CATIA & other CAD softwares to further horn their skills.

Pro- Engineer, ANSYS, Siemens NX CAD are used as value addition tools for the students on week end on minimal payment basis.

We train the students both in theory and practical work in the various areas of Mechanical Engineering such as Machine Design, Stress Analysis, Theory of Machines, Thermodynamics, Material Testing, CAD/CAM, Thermal Machines, Power Plant Engineering, Manufacturing Processes, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering etc.

In addition to the Central Library, a departmental library is functioning in the department catering to the needs of the faculty and students.

After studying this course student get proficiency in various aspects employed in Mechanical Industry and acquire ability to design and development of mechanical machinery using computer aided machine design techniques.
This course also aims to develop the competence in core areas of mechanical engineering with adequate exposure of students state of art technological developments like CAD, PLM, Mechatronics, Robotics, etc

1. Student has opportunity to work in automobile industry, refrigeration and air conditioning industry and various mechanical industries.

2. Mechanical engineers are widely employed in almost all industries due to involvement of mechanical components everywhere.

3. Student can also work as maintenance and production engineers.

4. Student can also work as Process Equipment designers.

5. Industry is in need of qualified mechanical engineering technologists that, upon graduation, are able to apply state-of-the-art tools in the areas of computer-aided design, finite element modeling and analysis, and the concepts of advanced mechanical design to the creation of sophisticated machines and systems.

The department is committed to adopt positive approach and provide flexible and innovative learning opportunities to students and enabling them to build great careers confidently.
Students are encouraged to participate in seminars, group discussions, quizzes, extempore speeches etc. Department motivates all the faculty members to adopt the latest techniques in teaching and learning process and encourages each faculty to present / author a technical paper / book in a year.
Some faculty members are pursuing their higher studies towards M. Tech degree or Ph D degree. Student Counselling is being done regularly.
Industrial visits and tours are organized by the Department to give the students maximum industrial exposure.

Students are encouraged to attend value addition courses such as Pro Engineer & ANSYS on weekends in the college at much lower cost than the market cost to strengthen their analytical skills
An INNOVENT group established in the College organizes events on cutting edge technologies, issues prevailing in the country etc etc to groom communication and analytical skills and to develop leadership qualities along with team spirit.
